Cindy Wesolowski
Regional Coordinator |
Dear Colleagues:
Spring is just around the cornerif it hasn't already arrived by the time you read thisand we've been busy in the Midwest Region over the winter. New brochures have been printed, a three-disc DVD based on the presentations given at our last regional meeting is going to press, and the planning for the next regional meeting is forging ahead. Unfortunately, the Mid-Continent and the Far West regions had already committed to dates in September for their regional meeting. Knowing that September dates are difficult (at best) for our membership to make, we decided that it would be better to hold our regional meeting alone this year.
The meeting will be held in St. Louis, Missouri, on August 12-14 and will include presentations centered on the theme of "Transportation." On the evening of August 12, there will be a Welcome Reception. We will spend the next day discussing methods, experiences, and collaboration opportunities for technology transfer within the Midwest Region. On Thursday, August 14, we will tour the facilities of our newest regional lab, the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.
USTRANSCOM is responsible for creating and implementing world-class global deployment and distribution solutions. The three component commandsthe Air Force's Air Mobility Command, the Navy's Military Sealift Command, and the Army's Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Commandprovide intermodal transportation across the spectrum of military operations.
I look forward to seeing you all in a couple of months at the national meeting in Portland and at our regional meeting in St. Louis a few months later. If you have an experience or a collaboration opportunity that you'd like to share at the meeting, please let Ken know as soon as possible.
Cindy
