Dear Colleagues: I hope you enjoyed the FLC national meeting in Charlotte as much as I did. The date for our own regional meeting is fast approaching! Information is available on the 2009 FLC Midwest Regional Meeting page of our website. The meeting will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bloomington, Indiana. Early-bird registration ends July 17. A block of rooms has been reserved under the name "FLC Midwest," but arrangements must be made no later than July 19. The theme for the meeting is "Laboratory-University Partnerships." We'll be following the same format as in past years-a cocktail reception on the evening of Tuesday, August 18; a day of presentations and awards followed by an evening networking event on Wednesday, August 19; and a half-day tour of Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division on Thursday, August 20. After the tour on Thursday, FLC members are invited to attend a strategic planning session to help determine the future direction of the Midwest Region. If you have ideas for activities or initiatives that the Region should support, please let me, Ken or Jim know so we can include them in the mix.
