Dear Colleagues: I'm excited to be writing to you for the first time as Regional Coordinator. I plan to continue on the same path established by our previous Regional Coordinator. I think we all owe Cindy Wesolowski our gratitude and appreciation for her leadership and service over the past several years, which have led to a revitalization of the Midwest Region. However, we will need your help and continued support for the Region as we move forward. We've begun planning the regional meeting for next August, and there is still space on the agenda. If you have a topic or a speaker you'd like to suggest, please let us know. We'd like to ensure that these meetings are helping to fulfill your professional development requirements. This year we'll be focusing on outreach to academic institutions. If there is a particular college or university that you'd like us to contact, let us know. If you are already working with an institution and would like to have a news or success story written about the effort, give Ken a call—he'll be happy to ensure that you get the recognition you deserve. Also, we are considering holding an outreach event in Michigan specifically targeted at the automotive industry. We are looking for ideas on what type of event this should be and what technologies may be available for licensing. If you are interested in helping to plan this event, or have ideas or technologies to share, please let us know as soon as possible.
